Hey everyone! Me again with a new craft tutorial! Today I made Candy Corn Bean Bags! I will be using these bean bags at our church fall party in a few weeks and I thought this was a fun, fast project that I could teach you! So let's get started!

Step One- Collect Your Fabric

For my fabric I used some soft white fabric I already had, a old yellow shirt, and a old yellow shirt. I am a firm believer in using what you have before you go buy something and in this case I felt it was unnecessary to go buy orange and yellow fabric.

You will need to cut 2 strips of each color. They should be 3" by 40" when you are finished. You will also need to cut 10 squares that are 4" by 4" our of any extra fabric you have lying around. They will be inside your bean bag as an extra precaution for your beans! I used the white fabric that I had left over.

Step 2- Sewing!

After I was finished cutting all the peices out I moved onto sewing them together. If you have a fabric that is wrinkled always make sure to iron it before you cut and especially before you sew!

You will be making 2 different striped strips, they will be white, orange, and then yellow.

Make sure that you are always putting the right side of the fabrics together before you sew so that the ugly side will be inside with the seam. I sewed my orange strip to my white strip first making sure that my presser foot ran alongside the edge of my fabric to make a nice straight line.

Next I sewed my yellow strip onto the other side of my orange strip. Your orange strip should be in the middle when you lay your fabric out, just like candy corn...(Which by the way I think is disgusting.) Put that strip aside and repeat with your remaining white, orange, and yellow strips.

Your finished fabric should look like the picture below!

Step 3- Bean Bage Puches

Next you will be sewing your bean pouch. these will be inserted into our cansy corn to hold our beans so we will not need to flip our fabric after sewing. Make sure to leave about a 2 inch gap in our seam so that you can later fill it with beans.

Bean Pouch

Once you are finished sewing you will then fill your pouch with your beans! I used normal brown beans but if you want to use something that will be safe to wash you can purchase stuffed animal beans on amazon or find them at any of your local craft stores! Here is a link for the beans on Amazon! https://www.amazon.com/Victory-Pellets-Weighted-Blankets-Tumbling/dp/B074T3J8CW?keywords=stuffed+animal+beans&qid=1540503896&sr=8-5&ref=sr_1_5

Beans

Make sure not to fill the bag too tight because you will now sew up your hole with your sewing machine!

Step 4- Cutting our our Candy Corn

Candy Corn Template

I made my own template for my candy corn shape and it turned out great! It was 7" tall and 6" wide at the very bottom! Once you have drawn out your candy corn to the shape that you like you will cut it out and put it on top of your 2 white, orange, and yellow fabrics stacked onto of each other, making sure that the top of the candy corn goes on the white stripe!

You will then cut our five candy corn shapes. When you are finished you should have a total of ten individual candy corn shapes.

Step 5- Sewing up the Candy Corn

Edge Seams

Step 5 is very simple! Start by placing pieces with there fronts together and sew along the edges careful to keep the presser foot along the edge of the fabric. Make sure to leave the long edge of the candy corn open so that you can flip the fabric, insert the bean pouch, and fill in the rest of the space with stuffing.

Repeat these steps for all five Candy Corn!

Step 6-Ladder Stitch

To finish off your Candy Corn Bean Bag you will need to stitch up your stuffing hole with a ladder stitch. Bellow is a video tutorial on how to do a ladder stitch.
